Morton Fraser raise £2,000 for mental health charity

Lawyers from Morton Fraser have raised nearly £2,000 for the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) after participating in ‘Gung-Ho! Seriously Fun 5k’ on Saturday 12th May.

A total of 28 lawyers took part in the fundraising effort for the firm’s official charity partner for 2018, and are continuing to raise funds through JustGiving.

Morton Fraser aims to raise over £10,000 throughout the year for the charity, while also promoting positive mental health within the firm. Upcoming fundraising initiatives include a Kiltwalk, ‘SAMH Stop’ stair-climb and a ‘Santa Dash’ in December.

Saturday’s event in Edinburgh saw the Morton Fraser team tackle a 5k run, complete with inflatable assault course, which included Europe’s biggest ever inflatable waterslide, a 10ft wall to conquer and the world’s biggest single-piece inflatable obstacle.

The money raised takes this year’s fundraising efforts to approximately £3,700, following participation in a 24-hour fitness fundraiser in Glasgow on 5-6 May, which raised money for SAMH and Common Wheel. Morton Fraser’s team of six raised £1,700, helping organisers raise a total of £6,200, more than double the fundraising target of £3,000.

Maggie Moodie, chair of Morton Fraser, said: “Morton Fraser has a strong history of annual charity partnerships, and we are committed to doing our upmost to raise £10,000 for SAMH.

“The charity was chosen as a part of the wider focus on positive mental wellbeing in the workplace, and following a vote by all staff wherein SAMH was the overwhelming choice.

“Saturday’s Gung-Ho! event was a lot of fun and a great success and I’d like to thank all members of our team who took part, donated and supported these efforts.”
