Professional Support Lawyer (Glasgow) – Harper Macleod LLP

An opportunity has arisen for a professional support lawyer (PSL) to support our expanding real estate teams who deal with a wide range of property types including commercial, residential, wind farms, hydro, minerals and other natural resources, agricultural and forestry.  This role would suit those undertaking a PSL role currently, or an experienced commercial property solicitor or associate looking for a career change.  We are willing to accommodate flexible working practices for this role which could be full or part time and based in Glasgow.

You will be involved in the following areas: 

  • Dealing with fee earner queries and undertaking research where appropriate
  • Drafting articles and blogs on topics of interest
  • Ensuring fee earners are kept up to date on new legislation, cases and changes in practice
  • Reviewing and updating style documents
  • Creation and maintenance of styles and templates
  • Supporting fee earners with publishing articles in external publications or newsletters
  • Preparation and delivery of in-house training
  • Other ad-hoc projects as and when required
  • General administration
  • Liaising with other support teams

To be considered for this role, you must have the following skills and experience:

  • Have experience in a similar role, or experience as a commercial property solicitor
  • Be able to research, analyse and assimilate large quantities of information in order to distil the relevant issues
  • Have first rate communication skills, written and oral
  • Be able to engage at all levels in the firm
  • Be forward thinking and open to new ideas
  • Have advanced skills in computer systems
