And finally… cutting edge

An MP has been widely ridiculed after suggesting all knives in the UK should be fitted with GPS trackers to crack down on knife crime.

Scott Mann, Conservative MP for North Cornwall, also said there should be a “national database like we do with guns”.

He said those carrying GPS-tracked knives around would have to “have a bloody good explanation”, with “obvious exemptions for fishing”

The politician introduced his bizarre policy proposal on Twitter, where people were quick to point out that police would struggle to track tens of millions of knives - and owners would have to be trusted to regularly charge them.

Mr Mann refused to comment further when approached by BBC News.
