And finally... lone wolf

The former stockbroker whose memoir was adapted into Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street has accused the film’s production company of fraud.

Jordan Belfort created a stock manipulation scheme and was subsequently jailed for securities fraud in 1999.

He is suing Red Granite Pictures, who financed the 2013 film, in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming that he has been affected by the Malaysian finance scandal which struck the company in 2017.

Mr Belfort’s lawyers say that his book and story rights have been tainted by the allegations that the film was financed through ill-gotten funds derived from the 1 Malaysia Development Berhad fund (1mDB).

He argues that when he signed over the film rights to the production company, he was not aware that the company was funded in such a manner, The Los Angeles Times reports. He said he was told by Red Granite that the firm had legitimate investors.

Mr Belfort is currently seeking $300 million in damages.
