And finally… Ye/You

Kanye West has legally changed his name to Ye following the approval of a Los Angeles court.

He made the request in August, citing personal reasons for the decision.

The two-letter moniker replaces ‘Kanye Omari West’. In 2018, the rapper told radio host Big Boy: “I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible. In the Bible it means you.

‘Ye’ is the 2nd person nominative plural personal pronoun, meaning ‘you’ in Early Modern English. In modern English, a single form, ‘you’, is used in the nominative and accusative.

Ye added: “So, I’m you. And I’m us. It’s us. It went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye, just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused – everything. It’s more of a reflection of who we are [as] beings.”
