Ann MacNeill called to the bar today, joining Hastie Stable.

Prior to turning to the law, Ms MacNeill was a Chartered Banker, graduating from the University of Glasgow with an MBA. She specialised during her banking career in managing credit risk.

She graduated from University of Edinburgh with an MSc by Research and thereafter a PhD researching the use of statistical models to manage risk.

During her time with COPFS Ms MacNeill worked in specialised units, including health and safety, appeals and fatalities investigation.

She spent five years prosecuting Sheriff and jury cases and is very experienced in managing complex and sensitive cases involving vulnerable witnesses and large volumes of productions. She has also appeared in proceeds of crime proceedings and fatal accident enquiries.

During her period of devilling she focussed on personal injury, clinical negligence and health and safety law.

Susan Hastie, stable clerk, said: “It’s great to have Ann join the stable. She brings an obvious wealth of skills with her. We welcome her and wish her every success for her future at the bar.”
