Arbroath Sheriff Court building will go on market if community buy-out cash is not found

The former Arbroath Sheriff Court building will be put on the open market if a community buy-out effort does not secure the cash soon, the Evening Telegraph reports.

Arbroath Courthouse Community Trust recently met with Scottish Court and Tribunal Services (SCTS) at a meeting hosted by Graeme Dey, MSP for Angus South.

Mr Dey said: “The SCTS has been very accommodating in terms of allowing the trust time to firm up plans and secure funding. Chances of funding success are boosted by clear evidence of support among the public, so I’d urge anyone who hasn’t done so to sign up as a Trust member.”

If funding is not found soon, Richard Maconachie, chief financial officer at the SCTS, said the building would be put on the open market.

He added that there has been significant deterioration to the building since its closure, with stonework repairs on its façade now “critical”.
