Vikki Melville, managing partner in Scotland, delivered the Address to the Haggis, while consultant Gordon Keyden delivered the Immortal Memory toast and David Hutchison and Kim McLeod, senior associates in Glasgow and Aberdeen respectively, delivered the Toast to, and Reply from the Lassies.

There were also musical performances from singer Ali Tyler, senior associate in Edinburgh, and piper David Leckie, partner in the firm’s London office (ably assisted by his two sons). The evening was also expertly controlled by Andrew Constable, partner in Edinburgh, as Master of Ceremonies, sitting in a virtual Burn’s cottage front room.

Clients were provided in advance with a selection of miniature whiskies, and Scottish tablet, to assist their enjoyment of the event from the comfort of their living rooms.

The event was well received in providing a welcome respite from the current restrictions, with Clyde & Co being applauded by clients “for going the extra mile to keep what is a highlight of the year alive and well”.

One client commented that she “never thought a remote event could be that good! Fabulous performance from all… A really nice evening in times of uncertainty for all was most appreciated.” Another client even linked his laptop to his TV to enable his elderly mother to watch the event.

Clyde & Co said the firm look forward to “being able to welcome clients again, in person hopefully, to their Burns Night celebrations in 2022”.
