Dentons' Amy Cornelius on track to raise £8,000 for cystic fibrosis charities

Amy Cornelius, a senior associate at Dentons in Glasgow, has completed eight running events in the space of eight months and is on track to raise £8,000 for cystic fibrosis charities.

She completed two marathons (London and Las Vegas); four half marathons (Inverness, Edinburgh, Great North Run and Glasgow); and two 5Ks (Kelpies and Las Vegas) between March and November this year. She also secured a 9th medal for completing the “Remix Challenge” in Las Vegas as a result of doing two events out there over the course of the weekend.

She said: “Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored me, so far, in a cause which means a lot to me personally and to so many who are affected by, or know someone who suffers from, cystic fibrosis.

“Cystic fibrosis is a life-limiting genetic condition, with the current average life expectancy at the devastatingly young age of 37, but through research, development and incredible medical advances not only is life expectancy continually being extended, but a cure is on the horizon. I decided to take on 8in8for8 in recognition of the phenomenal work undertaken by both the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the Butterfly Trust and as my own contribution to the fight for a cure.

“Whilst I was told on so many occasions that I was insane to take on such a tough running challenge, which is probably true, it has been an amazing experience and my motto was ‘I run because I can’. I am grateful to all of my colleagues at Dentons and to those in my wider network in the legal industry for the incredible support I have received.”
