Digby Brown Solicitors has been named the number one small and medium sized enterprise (SME) in Scotland.

The firm received the award at the Business Insider Scottish SME 300 Awards 2015 held in Glasgow.

The award winners were chosen from the top 300 leading companies with turnovers between £8 million and £20m listed in Business Insider last autumn.

The award is in recognition of Digby Brown’s commercial performance and leadership within the Scottish legal sector.

Fraser Oliver, Digby Brown partner and chief executive, received the award on behalf of the firm.

He highlighted Digby Brown’s work to adapt to changes in the Scottish legal market and develop the business infrastructure needed to successfully represent thousands of people a year across Scotland.

Mr Oliver said: “The legal marketplace in Scotland has changed, both in terms of how law firms generate business and the avenues open to clients seeking access to justice.

“We give our clients an affordable way to obtain access to justice using our Compensate funding scheme. Our funding model underpins our work and protects our clients from financial risk as a result of seeking our help after an accident.

“External recognition and awards such as this are nice, but perhaps the best measure of our success are the reviews from our clients which rate us as 9.5 out of 10 in terms of our performance. That is due to the hard work our people do day in, day out on behalf of our clients.”

The award follows on from a number of other accolades awarded to the firm, including, among others, winning the community contribution award at the 2014 Scottish Legal Awards in March 2014, achieving gold level accreditation with Investors in People in July 2014, becoming the first Scottish law firm to be accredited as a living wage employer in December 2014 and remaining the only Scottish firm top ranked for personal injury (pursuer) work by Chambers and Legal 500.
