Gillespie Macandrew partner Colin Hamilton becomes solicitor advocate

Colin Hamilton, a partner at Gillespie Macandrew, has become a solicitor advocate able to represent both individuals and companies in the higher courts.

He joins partner John Stirling in giving the firm’s clients access to solicitor advocate services.

Having qualified as a solicitor in 2008, Mr Hamilton was promoted to partner in 2017. He specialises in planning and environmental law, commercial dispute resolution and property litigation. He has been the instructing solicitor in a number of significant cases including Sustainable Shetland v Scottish Ministers and RSPB v Scottish Ministers

He sits on the Law Society of Scotland’s Planning Law Sub-Committee and is a tutor in planning and environmental law at the University of Strathclyde.

He said: “I’m delighted to be able to assist the firm’s clients who require representation in the country’s highest courts. This appointment allows the firm to offer more flexibility to clients, while reflecting the high quality services that we have always offered.”
