Two Glasgow University law students performed extremely well in a client consultation competition in Canada this week, coming second place overall.

The International Client Consultation Competition was held in Windsor, Ontario, with Scotland being represented by Gillian McGarry and Ilaria Moretti, both of the University of Glasgow Diploma in Professional Legal Practice programme. The students had previously won the Scottish finals of the competition. The team was trained by Mike Graham, Gina Wilson and Rachel McKay.

Other members of the profession assisted in providing challenging scenarios to help the students prepare for the international competition.

Nineteen countries participated in the final and an estimated 5,000 students globally took part in the heats for the competition.

Eileen Paterson, director (operations) said: “I am absolutely delighted that our students have raised the profile of the University of Glasgow and Scotland in this global competition. It has not only developed the skills and knowledge of those who competed in the competition in Windsor, but everyone who took part will have improved their interviewing skills which will benefit clients and the profession in the future.
