Harper Macleod LLP has signed up to the “Scottish Business Pledge”, the Scottish government’s voluntary code for businesses, as it unveils the results of a major investment in its brand.

The firm has met all nine elements of the pledge agreement committing businesses to follow fair and progressive practices.

Martin Darroch, chief executive of Harper Macleod said: “As a leading professional services firm which works throughout the diverse Scottish business community, we have always recognised our responsibility to act in a way which is fair and promotes equality, opportunity and innovation.

“As soon as the pledge was launched we wanted to commit to it, not just in part but by going the whole way.

“We’re delighted to lead by example by meeting all nine parts of the pledge, which is recognition of the practices that are part of our business culture.”

Deputy First Minister John Swinney said: “The Scottish Business Pledge is a partnership between government and business to improve productivity, workforce engagement and promote fair work.

“I am delighted to welcome Harper Macleod to the growing network of more than 50 companies that have now made their pledge.

“This thriving legal firm provides an excellent example of the way that an ambitious, fair and inclusive approach to business leads to greater growth and innovation”

The firm now has a headcount of more than 350, including 63 partners which make it Scotland’s fourth largest legal partnership, and the fifth largest professional partnership overall.
