Populism and human rights will be the subject of a lecture by barrister and academic Professor Connor Gearty in Edinburgh next month.

Conor Gearty is professor of human rights law at LSE and a barrister at Matrix Chambers. He is a fellow of the British Academy, a member of the Royal Irish Academy, a bencher of both Middle Temple and King’s Inn, and has honorary degrees from, among other institutions, University College Dublin.

He has written many books on human rights, civil liberties and terrorism, most recently On Fantasy Island: Britain, Europe and Human Rights.

Lord Hodge joined the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom in October 2013. He was a Senator of the College of Justice between 2005 and 2013. He is also a JUSTICE60 patron and has chaired several discussions which Justice has organised in Edinburgh.

Please note that all advocates attending will receive 1.5 hours’ CPD. A drinks reception will follow the lecture.
