The Law Society of Scotland’s LexFactor event will be rescheduled as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

The event, which was meant to take place in Edinburgh yesterday, would have seen some of Scotland’s best-known law firms take to the stage to compete for the first ever LexFactor trophy in aid of the LawScot Foundation.

Law Society chief executive Lorna Jack said: “I am disappointed to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to postpone Lexfactor, our first ever battle of the legal bands.

“A lot of blood, sweat and tears (mine mostly) and a whole lot of passion have gone into organising this event and we have been thrilled by your support and enthusiasm.

“However, we are aware that some guests and organisations are understandably concerned about travel plans and potential risks of attending large scale events in the current circumstances. The welfare of our members and guests is our priority and in light of recent developments, it is the right thing to postpone this event until such a time when we can ensure attendee’s safety and the atmosphere and attendance which we have all been looking forward to.

“The LawScot Foundation does outstanding work to drive equal access to our profession and we are determined that our first ever Lexfactor event is a resounding success which reflects the passion, enthusiasm and drive of the inspirational young people it supports.

“We hope to confirm a new date as soon possible and will keep you informed. Current tickets will be valid for the new date. If you let us know that you are unable to attend the new date, we will be sorry not to see you there, but will be happy to process a refund in full.”
