Lindsay Bruce promoted to partner at Thompsons Solicitors
Thompsons Solicitors has announced that Lindsay Bruce, associate in the firm’s mass litigation team, has been promoted to partner.
Ms Bruce is a graduate of Strathclyde University where she gained her law degree. She trained and qualified at Thompsons, joining the firm in 2007.
Since 2013, she has played a key role in the mass litigation team. This comprises product liability and medical negligence claims. Much of the work done by the team is related to mesh implants, PIP breast implants, metal on metal hip replacements and baby ashes claims.
Towards the end of 2016 Ms Bruce began working on advancing cases representing survivors of historic child abuse. This was in preparation for the removal of the civil time bar under the Limitation (Childhood Abuse) (Scotland) Act 2017.
Commenting on Lindsay’s promotion, partner Wendy Durie said: “On behalf of the partnership I am delighted to welcome Lindsay as a partner. Lindsay has been with the firm since her traineeship and it is extremely pleasing to be able to promote from within.”
Ms Bruce added: “I’m extremely pleased to have been promoted to partner in one of the Scotland’s largest law firms. I greatly enjoy the work the firm does helping some of the most vulnerable and forgotten people in our society.
“I strongly believe that the work done by our Mass Litigation Team and by our Survivors Department, which help victims of abuse, has broken new ground for a Scottish law firm and I’m very proud to be part of that.”
