Miller Hendry to honour colleagues’ memory with walk

Eileen Matthew

Staff from Tayside legal firm Miller Hendry are participating in a sponsored walk this Saturday 13 June in memory of two members of the Miller Hendry family who sadly passed away, the late Eileen Matthew last year and Jennifer Adams in 2010.

Those walking will be raising money for Roxburghe House, a hospice for the terminally ill in Dundee, where both Eileen and Jennifer spent their last days and benefitted greatly from the care and support provided there.

The walk has been organised by Eileen’s family, including her husband Alan, who is a partner at the legal firm, along with his daughters, Katherine and Eleanor. The walk will start at Auchallater near the Glenshee Ski Centre and progress along Jocks Road for over 19 kilometres through some spectacular Scottish scenery, finishing at Glen Doll where there will be a BBQ for the walkers and sponsors.

The day before the sponsored walk, Alan and Eleanor are taking on the challenging Lairig Ghru from Colyumbridge to the Linn o’ Dee, a 30.5km trek which is popular with many enthusiastic explorers.

Alan is looking forward to the day to both raise money and remember loved ones.

Alan said: “The support and care offered by the staff at Roxburghe House at a very difficult time, not only to patients but to families too, is very special indeed. I am very proud to be able to give something back to Roxburghe House for their work in caring for Eileen and Jennifer in their final weeks.

“Eileen loved the outdoors, so she would have thoroughly enjoyed our sponsored walk. I would like to thank everyone at Miller Hendry who have dug out their walking shoes for this weekend’s Highland trek and raised money for such a worthy cause.”
