‘Naked rambler’ refused permission to appeal to Grand Chamber

Stephen Gough, 55, who insists on living his life naked, has argued his repeated imprisonment for being naked in public has breached his human rights.

He failed at the ECtHR last year when he argued his right to private life and right to freedom of expression were breached.

Mr Gough gained notoriety in 2003 when he performed a naked walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

He took his case to Europe after he was arrested in Perth and charged with breach of the peace in 2011, having already spent five years in prison up to that point.
