Two new members have been appointed to fill vacant positions on the Scottish Sentencing Council.

Susan Fallone has been appointed as a judicial member, replacing Gillian Thomson. Ms Fallone has been a Justice of the Peace in Edinburgh since 2013. She currently works as a civil litigation solicitor, and is a supervisor in the Law Clinic at the University of Strathclyde.

Krista Johnston has been appointed as the new solicitor member of the council, replacing John Scott QC. Ms Johnston founded the firm of Martin, Johnston and Socha in 1998, concentrating exclusively on criminal defence work.

She became a solicitor advocate in 2007 and is a member of the Society of Solicitor Advocates and Fortis Chambers.

Chair of the council, Lady Dorrian, the Lord Justice Clerk, said: “I am delighted to welcome Krista and Susan to the Scottish Sentencing Council. Their knowledge and expertise will be invaluable to the council as we start to deliver the ambitious programme of work set out in our 2018-21 business plan.”

The appointees will each serve a five-year year term.
