Shoosmiths has underlined its confidence in 2018 by announcing two key January appointments to its growing real estate and corporate teams in Edinburgh.

Emily McQueen joins Shoosmiths’ corporate team as a solicitor from the family business / corporate team at Turcan Connell. Ms McQueen is experienced in advising clients on UK and cross-border commercial transactions and joins a dynamic team led by corporate partner Alison Gilson.

Ms Gilson said: “Emily is an experienced solicitor with an impressive skill set who will further complement our busy corporate team. I anticipate we will also make further appointments as Shoosmiths aims to attract engaging and talented lawyers with the ability to advise our broad client base on large and complex deals in Scotland and further afield.”

Complementing Ms McQueen’s appointment in Edinburgh is the addition of Lauren Gibson as a solicitor within Shoosmiths real estate practice. Ms Gibson provides further strength and resource to a highly experienced team with a growing client base and that is led by Steve Dougherty, partner and head of real estate in Scotland.

Ms Gibson is the latest appointment by the real estate team which late last year also recruited Gillian Wood as a senior associate.

Ms Gibson was previously with R & R Urquhart LLP in Forres, Moray where she gained invaluable legal experience across conveyancing, litigation and a wide range of property matters. This included advising on commercial leases and acting on behalf of landowners and estates with respect to sales, telecoms leases and securities.
