Harper Macleod has announced the appointment of a new partner to its personal injury & reparation team.

Elaine Russell joins the firm from Irwin Mitchell where she was supervising partner for the insurance and personal injury departments in Scotland.

She said: “I am delighted to add my experience and specialist knowledge to what is already a market leading team at Harper Macleod.

“The firm is focused on achieving justice for the people it represents, often at a difficult time in their lives, and that has been the driving force behind my working life. I’m passionate about what I do and am committed to working with others - be they healthcare professionals, authorities or other organisations – to make Scotland a more accountable, safer and fairer place.

“Client care is always first and foremost in my mind, whatever the circumstances clients are dealing with, and together with my new colleagues I believe Harper Macleod can make a difference for those injured throughout Scotland.”

Ms Russell brings particular expertise in dealing with road traffic accidents; serious injury and fatal accidents including representation of the victims of the Clutha Vaults helicopter crash; workplace accidents, and asbestos related disease.

Chambers UK describes her as an “accomplished solicitor” and someone who can “see problems before they appear”. She is accredited as a specialist in personal injury law by the Law Society of Scotland, a senior litigator with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and was the Scottish regional coordinator of the Motor Accident Solicitors Society.

Martin Darroch, chief executive of Harper Macleod, said: “We’re very pleased to have attracted Elaine to add further strength to our high calibre team. She has a wealth of experience in this area, particularly in relation to complex and high-value matters such as brain and spinal injury cases, and is extremely well respected by clients and peers alike.

“We are determined to lead the way in securing justice for people injured in Scotland and beyond, ensuring that they receive both a fair result and 100% of the compensation they are due. This appointment is another example of our commitment to providing the best quality advice to every one of our clients.”
