Ronnie Renucci QC takes the reins at the Scottish Criminal Bar Association
Ronnie Renucci QC has been elected president of the Scottish Criminal Bar Association, succeeding Claire Mitchell and promising to continue her “excellent” work during his tenure.
Mr Renucci, of Black Chambers, told Scottish Legal News: “I am delighted and honoured to have been elected to the position of president of the Scottish Criminal Bar Association.
“I fully intend to continue the excellent work in promoting and protecting the interests of the Scottish criminal bar already undertaken by my predecessor Claire Mitchell during her tenure and I will continue to champion the relevance of a strong criminal bar in a modern justice system.
“I am particularly fortunate to take up office at a time when the Scottish criminal bar is so vibrant and filled with a stock of talent well placed to take on any challenges that may lie ahead in the coming years.”
Ian Duguid QC, director of Black Chambers, told SLN: “Ronnie is a respected and popular member of our chambers. His appointment to this important office is a reflection of the high regard in which he is held by his peers.
“As one of the hardest working Counsel at the Scottish Bar he is ideally placed to understand the challenging issues faced by his colleagues both within the Faculty and the Solicitors’ branch of the profession.
“On behalf of Black Chambers, I wish him every success in his endeavours.”
