Solicitor general to lead FAI into Glasgow bin lorry disaster

A senior law officer is to oversee the fatal accident inquiry into the bin lorry crash in Glasgow last December.

The solicitor general Lesley Thomson (pictured) will present the Crown’s case the hearing.

A bin lorry driven by Harry Clarke, 58, an employee ofGlasgow City Council, ploughed through people on Queen Street on December 22 after the driver lost control.

Six people were killed.

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) confirmed Mr Clarke would not face criminal charges and that an FAI would be held on July 22.

Glasgow City Council will be represented by Peter Gray QC, who previously appeared for BP in the Super Puma helicopter inquiry.
