SYLA annual conference — one week to go

The Scottish Young Lawyers Association (SYLA) is gearing up for its annual conference, Progression in the Profession, in Glasgow on Monday 15 June.

This year’s event, adopting the theme Towards 2020, features sessions on business development, career progression, social media, financial fitness, personal branding and leadership, and offers 6 hours CPD.

The programme includes:

  • Succeeding in a “more for less world” - how to thrive in an evolving legal landscape, Stephen Gold
  • Harnessing the power of social media - potential and pitfalls, Brian Inkster
  • How to make a million from your practice: business development as a young lawyer, Stephen Vallance
  • Building financial awareness and business acumen: the banker’s perspective, Mark Sim, Bank of Scotland
  • Progressing your career and achieving your goals, Victoria Payne, The HR Consultancy
  • Life planning and financial fitness: where do you want to be in 2020 and how will you get there?, Tilney Bestinvest
  • Building your brand: what will people say about you in 2020, Simon Farrell, The Tayburn Agency
  • Attitude determines your altitude: becoming a future leader, Scott Johnston
  • The conference, which has been sponsored by Scott & Co., will take place at the Grand Central Hotel, 99 Gordon Street, Glasgow, G1 3SL with a delegate rate of £65, or £45 for students. Tickets are available online.

    The end of the conference will be marked by the SYLA AGM and a drinks reception.
