TLT secures first 3am licence extensions under new Aberdeen scheme

TLT has helped to support the growth of three major pub companies and brewers in Aberdeen, by securing the first extensions to core licensing hours under a new policy from the city’s licensing board.

The firm represented Brewdog, Signature Pubs and Spirit Pub Company at the board hearing on 15 January 2019, seeking to extend their licensing hours at city centre locations to 2am Sunday to Thursday and to 3am on Fridays and Saturdays.

With substantive pre-hearing work having been undertaken, the licensing board agreed to the extensions unanimously and without imposing any further conditions on the licence holders.

The policy has been the subject of extensive debate in Aberdeen, and full submissions were made to the licensing board to allow them to properly assess the suitability of the premises in question.

The companies were represented by Caroline Loudon, partner at TLT. She said: “We were delighted to be appointed to make the case for these extensions to core hours.

“The decision will be welcome news to other premises licences holders who might be considering making a similar application, provided they are able to meet the requirements of the licensing board and reporting agencies.”
