Turcan Connell hockey tournament raises £8k for Down's Syndrome charity

Staff at Turcan Connell have raised over £8,000 for their nominated charity of the year, Down’s Syndrome Scotland, at a charity hockey tournament.

The law firm organised the event and came second to Aberdeen Standard, having taken on Barclays, Cornelian, French Duncan, Galbraith, Pinsents, Rathbones, Tcam and DLA Piper.

The tournament, which took place at Goldenacre playing fields, not only saw some impressive hockey played, but also a great list of raffle and auction prizes, thanks to an array of generous donations made by various contacts and businesses across Scotland.

The £8,181 charity take brings Turcan Connell’s fundraising total for the charity to over £13,000, with a few more months of fundraising still to go.

Alix Storrie, partner at Turcan Connell, said: “We are very proud to be supporting Down’s Syndrome Scotland this year and delighted to have raised another significant amount for the charity. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who gave their time and helped to ensure that the tournament was again such a success.”

Louise Watt, senior trusts and fundraising officer for Down’s Syndrome Scotland, added: “Thank you so much to everyone who took part in this year’s Turcan Connell Hockey Tournament, helping to raise money in support of Down’s Syndrome Scotland, We were delighted to be able to come along to watch the action on Friday evening, it was a fantastic event and made even better by the lovely weather.”
