W. James Smith raises vital funds for poverty relief project

Solicitor W. James Smith has completed a 10k in aid of the Poverty Relief Project run by Glasgow Central Mosque.

Family, friends and the legal community have all supported Mr Smith in raising enough money to provide the food bank with 250 parcels – allowing 250 families to be provided with a week’s supply of food each.

The mosque’s service is open to all from any background or religion and aims to support the most vulnerable in society.

Mr Smith’s colleague at McGreevy & Co, solicitor Umar Hussain, is also involved in the project and volunteers there every Sunday.

Mr Smith said: “I decided to do the 10k in a bid to get healthy and wanted to raise money for charity. Having heard about the work of the project over the last 5-6 years from Umar, I choose them.

“I had never actually been to the project but after the run we all went along and volunteered. We saw first hand the important work that is carried out there.”
