Watch: Proposals for legal representation for sexual offence complainers

Lawyers advocating for a right to independent legal representation for sexual offence complainers have published a detailed video on their proposals.

Earlier this yearEamon Keane and Tony Convery published a report proposing that in cases where there is a section 275 application to lead evidence of a complainer’s sexual history or character, the complainer should have a right to legal representation at the hearing which would determine if such evidence will be permitted.

Mr Keane is a qualified solicitor and an academic at the University of Edinburgh. He is the convener of the Scottish Legal Action Group (SCOLAG). Mr Convery is a qualified solicitor in private practice and deputy convener of SCOLAG.
