Aberdeen Law Project nominated for legal award
The Aberdeen Law Project has been shortlisted as a finalist for the ‘University Pro Bono Award’ in the LexisNexis Legal Awards 2025.
The new University Pro Bono Award celebrates universities which “have made a significant impact through their legal pro bono programmes”.
Over the past year the project has achieved several notable successes, including, resolving a wrongly attributed energy debt; winning cases at employment tribunals; and launching new community programmes.
Soma Mehmood, student director, said: “This shortlist reflects the incredible passion and dedication of everyone involved in the Aberdeen Law Project.
“It is inspiring to see the impact we have had on our community, from empowering individuals through education to advocating for justice in housing and employment matters.
“Being recognised at this level motivates us to keep pushing boundaries and striving for even greater change.”
