Advocate Martin Richardson appointed Crown Counsel
Since being called to the bar in 2004, Mr Richardson has dealt primarily with commercial litigation, in particular in the fields of professional negligence and construction.
However, he has also developed an interest in human rights issues in a criminal context and has been involved in several high-profile cases, such as the appeal of Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi (Lockerbie bombing), and the Supreme Court appeals of Nat Fraser (murder of his wife), and Peter Cadder (the right of suspects to access to a solicitor).
In 2012, Mr Richardson was appointed as standing junior counsel to the Scottish government, and in 2015 as standing junior counsel to the Advocate General for Scotland.
