Ahsan Mustafa joins Law Society’s Consumer Law Sub-Committee
Ahsan Mustafa has been appointed as a solicitor member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Consumer Law Sub-Committee.
Mr Mustafa is a solicitor at Nolans in Kirkintilloch. He practises commercial litigation, dispute resolution, debt and asset recovery and insolvency.
The Consumer Law Sub-Committee works with stakeholders and respond to consultations and legislation on a wide range of consumer issues.
Mr Mustafa said: “I am honoured to be selected for the Consumer Law Sub-Committee as this is an area in which I have a deep interest, working with consumer legislation, namely, the Consumer Credit Act 1974 on a daily basis.
“I have a unique perspective as, although I do represent individual consumers, my firm primarily acts for some of the UK’s biggest DCAs and finance houses. I am well positioned to see things from the other side, having built up a strong knowledge base of contractual rights, responsibilities and remedies through the conduct of several reported cases, from the Sheriff Court to the Court of Session, relating to the practical interpretation of consumer legislation.”
