Alisdair Matheson becomes first lawyer president of 138-year-old Insurance & Actuarial Society of Glasgow
Alisdair Matheson, an insurance and risk partner with Brodies LLP, has been appointed president of the Insurance & Actuarial Society of Glasgow (IASG) – the first lawyer to take up the position in the body’s 138-year history.
The IASG is a training, mentoring and support network for professionals in the insurance market and is the largest Scottish faculty of the Chartered Insurance Institute, with a membership of over 4,000.
Mr Matheson was elected at the recent AGM to replace Kieran Gallagher of loss adjuster McLarens and will hold the position for one year.
He said: “Having worked in dispute resolution for more than 20 years, I work regularly with insurers and recognise the value of the IASG to the insurance market community and the support that it provides to new and established professionals.
“I am very proud to take on this new role and intend to use it as an opportunity to ensure that Glasgow continues to thrive as a first class location for insurance and financial services.”
