Mr Ismail, who joined Holmes Mackillop in February 2015 and was promoted to director in April 2021, is based in the firm’s Glasgow office.

His book, A Practical Guide to Ending Commercial Leases in Scotland, was also published in 2021, with a further version in the pipeline following the announcement of commercial leasing reforms. Mr Ismail also tutors in both the residential and commercial property courses on the diploma in legal practice at Glasgow University.

He said: “I am delighted to have solely practised in commercial property throughout my career, including a significant volume of commercial leasing, and it’s an area of law where no two clients and/or days in practice are ever the same.

“I would wish to relay my sincere gratitude to all of my colleagues, clients, and contacts, including those of the firm and at the university, whose support has been unwaivering throughout my working life, and is greatly valued”.
