Ampersand advocates appointed to EHRC panel of counsel
Ampersand Advocates has announced that Dorothy Bain QC, Ailsa Carmichael QC, Aidan O’Neill QC and Laura-Anne van der Westhuizen have been appointed to the new panel of counsel of the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
The new panel of counsel will work with the EHRC on legal issues arising from its mandate to protect individuals from discrimination and to enforce equality and human rights laws.
Ms Carmichael, a specialist in public and administrative law, and Mr O’Neill are appointed for a second time to the A Panel in Scotland.
Mr O’Neill, who has a wide ranging civil/commercial practice both north and south of the border and who is also a widely published legal author is also appointed to the A Panel in England and Wales.
Ms Bain, much of whose work is concerned with personal injury, professional and medical negligence, judicial review and human rights is appointed to the A Panel for the first time.
Ms van der Westhuizen, who has a civil practice with particular emphasis on commercial law is appointed to the B Panel for the first time. Both are appointed in Scotland.
The new appointments run from March 2015 for a period of four years.
