England: Judiciary drops ‘gov’ from web address
The judiciary in England and Wales has changed its web address to “reflect the constitutionally independent position of the judiciary”.
The website has moved from www.judiciary.gov.uk to www.judiciary.uk as of this week.
In a statement, the Judicial Office said “all links to previous website pages and documents will redirect automatically” to the new address.
It added: “This domain name change has not incurred costs and follows earlier changes to remove ‘gov’ from the email addresses used by judges and their Judicial Office support staff.”
Northern Ireland is now the only part of the UK where the judiciary website is hosted on a .gov.uk domain name.
