The Virgin Australia flight was forced to return to Perth just an hour-and-a-half into its journey to Melbourne because of what the airline described as a “disruptive passenger”, NBC News reports.

The man was subsequently handed over to the Australian federal police, who arrested him and say he will likely appear in court next month.

As well as streaking through the plane, the man allegedly knocked a crew member to the floor.

A spokesperson for Virgin Australia said: “We sincerely apologise to guests impacted.”
