Protesters are calling on Serbia’s finance minister to resign after it emerged that he had plagiarised parts of his PhD thesis.
Ivanka Popovic, Dean of Belgrade University, has confirmed that Sinisa Mali’s doctorate will be annulled.
In a statement, the university said his 2013 paper on restructuring and privatisation included “entire paragraphs from the texts of other authors without listing the names of the authors”, the New York Times reports.
Mali has denied the allegation that he plagiarised other authors and has insisted he will continue to “do the job Serbian citizens pay me for”.
