And finally… fine by me
A mayor has mocked a fine imposed on authorities for appointing too many women.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo was told she had broken the law by naming too many women to various posts.
Eleven women and five men were promoted in 2018, apparently breaking rules designed to achieve gender parity in employment.
Authorities in Paris are being fined €90,000 by the public service ministry.
“I am happy to announce we have been fined,” Ms Hidalgo said.
The Socialist mayor said at a council meeting: “The management of the city hall has, all of a sudden, become far too feminist.”
