And finally… get what you pay for
A western company suffered a major data breach after inadvertently hiring a North Korean cyber criminal as a fully-remote worker.
A cyber security firm said it assisted the company, which has not been named, after the former contractor downloaded company data and sent a ransom demand.
The technician collected a salary for four months despite concerns about his poor performance, the BBC reports.
Secureworks has not said whether the company paid the ransom to prevent the release of its sensitive data.
The North Korean government has been accused of deliberately placing remote workers in western companies as a revenue stream.
