A man was seriously injured after being shot by a revolver he hid in an oven because he had children visiting.

The heat from the appliance made the gun fire, prompting the girlfriend to call Garlock, who attempted to remove the firearm.

Police Detective Wayne Mackey told Ohio newspaper The Vindicatorthat Garlock “was struck twice while trying to get the weapon secured.

“The culprit is a Maytag oven.”

He added that it was “the first time for me in 30 years of police work —- shot by an appliance.”
