And finally… O Captain! My Captain!

A coastal village in New York has seemingly faced down an attempted coup led by “Captain Bootyhead”.
The owner of a local pirate-themed snack company this month declared himself winner of the Sea Cliff mayoral election, which he lost to Elena Villafane by 62 votes to 1,064.
Captain Bootyhead – real name Robert Ehrlich – claimed that the election had been “rigged” against him, a write-in candidate who did not appear on the ballot paper.
He stormed into Sea Cliff’s village hall and claimed to have signatures from 1,800 local voters attesting to their support for him, though refused to show them to anyone.
He also said he was sacking every local public employee, but left after they threatened to call the police, The New York Times reports.
Bootyhead has suggested he will sue the administration for $390 million for allegedly causing harm to his snack business.
He is best known locally as the founder of Pirate’s Booty, a snack brand which he founded in 1987 and sold in 2013. He continues to sell pirate-themed vegan snacks.
