And finally… own goal
A notorious Italian mobster has been apprehended after being spotted in a photo of celebrating S.S.C. Napoli football fans in Greece.
Vincenzo La Porta, 60, fled Italy 11 years ago and was sentenced in absentia to 14 years’ imprisonment in connection with organised crime, tax evasion and fraud offences.
His whereabouts were unknown until he was seen in a photo of Napoli fans on Corfu celebrating their team’s historic championship victory earlier this year.
Announcing his arrest, police in Naples said La Porta was “betrayed” by his “passion for football and for Napoli”, the BBC reports.
The mobster – believed to have links with the Camorra crime organisation in Naples – is now in jail in Greece awaiting extradition to Italy.
