And finally… pole position
A fugitive scaled an electric pole where he remained perched for close to 24 hours before coming down to face the law.
Officers from Brazil’s southeastern state of Minas Gerais had approached the 38-year-old man on Friday with the intent of arresting him for parole violations.
In response he promptly climbed onto his house’s roof before ascending a 10-meter utility pole.
The Estado de Minas newspaper reported: “The man, whose criminal record includes armed robbery and theft charges, remained atop the pole for nearly 24 hours, from Friday until Saturday afternoon, refusing to come down.”
He eventually came down but the incident meant that power was cut to approximately 380 customers in the surrounding area.
