An apiarist has become the first to face criminal charges over doping bees with banned drugs.

Murray Mcgregor, 61, who produced honey for Prince Charles, faces criminal sanctions over importing and storing illegal medicinal products.

Mr Mcgregor, owner of Denrosa Apiaries in Blairgowrie, allegedly “administered unauthorised veterinary medicinal products” to honey bees.

The case called at Perth Sheriff Court this week, continuing without plea until December.​
