And finally… thrill of the chase
A judge has rebuked a motorist who had sex with a woman passenger while leading police on a high-speed chase.
Police made repeated attempts to stop Joshua James Childs as he sped along the Princes Highway in southern Australia, ABC reports.
Road spikes were deployed and all of the vehicle’s tyres were punctured – but Mr Childs continued driving on practically rubber-free wheels.
Officers then witnessed an “extraordinary” turn of events, as Mr Childs’ female passenger appeared to straddle him and begin having sex while the car was still moving at around 30 miles per hour.
“I have never in my time as a magistrate heard that whilst somebody was engaged in a police pursuit, they also engaged in sexual intercourse,” magistrate Koula Kossiavelos said.
Mr Childs was sentenced to seven months’ house arrest on the charge of aggravated dangerous driving to escape police pursuit, and two months’ house arrest on an unrelated charge of assault.
