And finally… weight of evidence
A devious pair of fishermen narrowly lost a €30,000 cash prize after tournament organisers discovered they had stuffed their catch with lead weights.
Jacob Runyan and Chase Cominsky were found out just before they were due to be awarded $28,760 USD (around €29,000 or £25,305) at the Lake Erie Walleye Trail tournament in Ohio, CNN reports.
The dramatic moment when the weights were found was filmed by other anglers, with several clips subsequently going viral on TikTok.
One recording captures Jason Fischer, director of the tournament, shouting “We got weights in fish!” before those watching begin shouting insults at the cheaters.
A spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources said it is investigating the incident and preparing a report for local prosecutors.
The tournament’s cash prize is funded by the entry fees from each competitor.
