Anderson Strathern reports year-on-year growth in first half of financial year
Anderson Strathern is reporting year-on-year growth for the first six months of its financial year.
This continues the growth pattern seen at its financial year end on 31 August 2014.
The 2014/2015 half year figures show turnover up by 8 per cent and a profits increase of 13 per cent.
The financial numbers are also backed by across the board client wins and strong lateral hires from DWF and McClure Naismith.
The firm is celebrating some significant client wins with highlights including appointments across the commercial and public sectors.
In the first of the new wins, Scottish hotel chain, Apex Hotels, selected the firm in a competitive tender exercise.
The win added to the roster of clients in the firm’s hospitality, food and drink sector. It will undertake a variety of commercial work for Apex.
Scottish Water has also announced that Anderson Strathern had been appointed to its legal panel following a competitive tender.
Anderson Strathern will undertake litigation and commercial property work as part of its appointment. A further client win saw Midlothian Council appoint the firm to two separate areas of external legal services following a tender competition.
It will undertake a full range of litigation work for the council and also a wide variety of other legal work.
Alongside the client wins, the firm has continued with its strategy of growing its business through key lateral hires and has announced the appointment of Paul Brown from DWF as a partner in its Glasgow employment team and Mark Cowie, formerly head of construction and engineering at McClure Naismith, as a projects partner in its expanding Glasgow corporate team.
Intellectual Property specialist Douglas McLachlan has also joined the corporate team from DWF.
The wins and hires follow a number of firsts and successes for the firm including:
Murray McCall, Anderson Strathern’s managing partner, said: “The first six months of our financial year have been excellent for us and coincides with some great client wins.
“We will continue with our client-first approach and a strategy of building steady growth in the business, both organically and by the lateral hire opportunities that are increasingly presenting themselves to us on the back of industry mergers.”
Robert Carr, Anderson Strathern’s chair, said: “We have established a powerfully collaborative firm, both internally and across our client base.
“As a result, Anderson Strathern is in an ideal position to offer high level strategic legal advice to our clients across the commercial, public and private sectors.”
