Anderson Strathern signs up as Lawscot Foundation sponsor

Anderson Strathern has stepped up its longstanding support for social mobility within the legal sector by signing up as a corporate sponsor of the Lawscot Foundation.

The firm will provide a donation of £2,750 per year, enough to cover the foundation’s annual bursary payment to one Scottish LLB student from a disadvantaged background.

The sponsorship will also include non-monetary assistance including mentoring and career development opportunities.

The new agreement formalises Anderson Strathern’s support for the charity, with the firm previously providing paid work experience placements and a former Lawscot Foundation student among the firm’s current trainee cohort.

Lawscot Foundation spokesperson Amber Shadle said: “We are grateful to Anderson Strathern for becoming a corporate sponsor, and to all our sponsors who make the work of the Lawscot Foundation possible.

“Having support from a large firm like Anderson Strathern will benefit our students enormously, not only financially but through the mentoring and other opportunities that provide real-life insight into the legal sector.”

Anderson Strathern managing partner Murray McCall said: “We are really proud to formalise our relationship with the Lawscot Foundation by way of a corporate partnership.

“It’s a fantastic programme to foster engagement with and access to the legal profession for people of all backgrounds. In fact, we have seen its success in action with one of our current trainees having benefited from the programme.

“From our point of view the great work of the Foundation is a perfect fit with our commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and we welcome and indeed encourage the insights and perspectives that diversity brings.”
