A senior paralegal in Edinburgh has become the first person to receive the Law Society of Scotland’s new paralegal accreditation in banking and finance.

Ann Clark, who works at Lindsays LLP, received the accreditation earlier this month after demonstrating detailed knowledge of processes, common financing structures, and legislation relevant to banking and finance.

Ms Clark has added to her two previously conferred paralegal accreditations in commercial and residential conveyancing which she received from the Law Society in 2017.

Sharon Connolly, convener of the Accredited Paralegal Committee, said: “Congratulations to Ann Clark on being the first to receive our new paralegal accreditation in banking and finance.

“Ann is an experienced paralegal and the accreditation recognises her skills and experience in this field. It is wonderful that we can again expand the accreditation to another practice area so that more paralegals can be recognised for their work.”

Ms Clark said: “I am delighted to be the first paralegal accredited in banking and finance by the Law Society of Scotland.

“I have worked in the banking and finance team at Lindsays for almost nine years. We have a great team and a varied workload acting for borrowers and lenders. The experience I have gained being part of this team complements my existing commercial property and residential property specialisms.

“Having this accreditation highlights the knowledge and experience I have in this field to our existing clients and will also help promote our team to potential new clients.”
