Arbitration in Scotland Conference 2018

Arbitration in Scotland Conference 2018

Last year, the Faculty of Advocates wowed Edinburgh with an outstanding inaugural conference on arbitration, and now a Glasgow audience is to be given a full update on this increasingly popular form of dispute resolution.

The Arbitration in Scotland Conference 2018 will be held in the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor hotel on Friday, 28 September.

Topics to be covered will include arbitration in family law and personal injury cases, as well as the 2020 Congress of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) in Edinburgh which promises to be a jewel in the Scottish arbitration crown.

The line-up of expert speakers at the conference includes the Commercial Court judge Lord Ericht; James Bridgeman SC, president of CIArb; Brent Haywood, of Lindsays; Richard Farndale, chair of CIArb Scotland; Brandon Malone, chair of the Scottish Arbitration Centre; and Isabella Ennis, advocate.

Two senior QCs in the field, Calum MacNeill and Lisa Henderson, will be co-chairs of the conference.

Kenneth Campbell QC, chair of the Faculty Dispute Resolution Service (FDRS), said: “The Faculty of Advocates aims to bring independent expertise to all forms of dispute resolution, and we welcome this opportunity to continue the conversation about arbitration in Glasgow.”
